Variables
Great Blue Heron
Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with an elevation
(hex. avg.) of less than 440 ft. and somewhat varied topography. At
somewhat higher elevation (hex. avg. up to 1421 ft.), it occurred
mostly in hexagons with no low dwarf sagebrush shrubland and with 7
or more land cover types. At the highest elevation (hex. avg. up to
2002 ft.), it occurred mostly in hexagons with more than 4% wetlands
and wet shrubland. The logistic regression analysis showed positive or
negative association with wetlands and wet shrubland, number of land
cover types, elevation (hex. avg.), April minimum temperature (hex.
min.), July minimum temperature (hex. min.), and-to a lesser
degree-big sagebrush shrubland, road density, and the extent of
public land.
